Project Description

Betty and her bump

This is Miss Betty.

Betty grew this funky looking lump on her head over a few months. The lump did not appear to cause her pain or distress, however it persisted on growing skyward.  Betty’s mum bought her to see Dr Alice as a second opinion for surgery. Dr Alice did a fine needle aspirate in order to examine cellular material from the lump under the microscope and found that the lump was most likely a fibroma, and hopefully not a nasty cancer which would spread to other organs.

Betty had her day in hospital and Dr Alice and the team removed the lump, and used techniques borrowed from human cosmetic surgeons to close the large base with minimal distortion to betty’s good looks.

Now that her fluffy fur has grown back, nobody would ever know that she has star shaped scar on top of her head.
